Rental Information

RATES, INSURANCE, POLICIES & MUCH MORE

Rates: All rates are quoted in US Dollars and are subject to change without prior notice. Rates vary due to season and also market conditions. Rates are only guaranteed at the time that they are quoted.


The Hirer is responsible for the rental rates, taxes and any other charges payable; the minimum charge is for 24 hours. Early return of an agreed weekly rental converts the rental charge to the daily rate. There is a $25.00 fee for deliveries or collections requested outside of office hours and also on Bank Holidays, regardless of the time.


Insurance: The insurance shall be governed by the laws of Barbados, whose courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction in any dispute, doubt or question arising hereunder, and in the event, action, claim or damage by the third party under or by virtue of this insurance, the liability of the Insurers to indemnify in such event shall be limited to judgment delivered or obtained in the first instance by a court of competent jurisdiction within Barbados.


The rental rates include comprehensive insurance inclusive of passenger liability except for a maximum deductible of $1,750.00 should the Hirer be responsible for any damage to or loss of the vehicle whilst driving the rental car, regardless of fault. This also applies to any property damage or personal injury that may be caused whilst driving the rental car, regardless of fault. The Hirer is also responsible for any Loss of Use or towing charges as a result of any damage or claim. A credit card hold of $1,000.00 will be required to as a deposit and will be reimbursed on the safe return of the rental vehicle.


Credit Card Collision Coverage: ALL damages/losses are payable by the Hirer and the Rental Company reserves the right to charge the credit card held for the maximum $1,750.00 liability. The rental Company will provide proof of payment and the necessary documentation required to facilitate the Hirer making a reimbursement claim from Credit Card / Insurance Company. Select Rentals Inc. will not attempt to recover funds from these various companies and will solely transact with the Hirer.


Optional LDW Purchase: The Hirer can reduce their liability by opting any of our LDW plans:



The LDW plan is non-refundable and does not cover damage to tyres, glass, tools or any accessories of the vehicle. If the Hirer uses the rental vehicle in a manner contrary to the rental terms or causes to be done anything that makes the LDW plan void, all damages or loss including loss of use must be paid punctually.


Authorised Drivers: All drivers must be between the ages of 25 and 75 years and must have at least two (2) years of driving experience (Exceptions are at the discretion of the rental Company). Additional drivers are at a cost of $5.00 per person per day. Any driver that has been specially approved by the rental Company will be liable for a higher excess deductible or LDW plan should they opt to take it (Double the standard amount being the maximum).


Smoking Policy: Smoking is strictly forbidden in the vehicle. In addition, there is absolutely no eating of foodstuff or drinking of beverages permitted in the rental vehicle. No animals or pets are allowed in the vehicle under any circumstances. A $200.00 charge for violations will be deducted from the deposit to cover valet costs.


Airport Delivery: We are local operators of SIXT Rent-a-Car and have a kiosk at the airport, located to the left of the arrivals lounge exit doors.


Directions: Please exit the arrivals hall. Immediately as you exit the arrivals lounge, make a left turn and you will see the SIXT kiosk located directly ahead.


Airport Return: Please return the rental vehicle to the main car park of the airport. As you enter the airport, keep right and enter the car park through either of the two entrance lanes. Please pull a parking ticket and leave it in the car. Kindly park the vehicle in section 1–3, near the exit and return the key to the branch desk outside the arrival hall.


Please note, that there is a fine for lost cards.


Rental Extension: Rental extensions must be requested 24 hours before the return time and are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.


Driving Permits: To drive in Barbados it is mandatory to have a local driving permit. Visitor driving permits are available for purchase from our office on the presentation of a valid driving licence. The cost is $5.00 and it is valid for 2 months.


Fuel Policy: Return the fuel tank as delivered or there will be refueling and service charges applicable at the end of the rental period. A client may also prepay for a full tank of petrol and return empty.


Child Seats: Child / Booster seats are available for hire at a daily cost of $5.00. Please specify the age of the child when making the rental reservation.


Mileage: Unlimited mileage is included in the rental rate.


Prepaid Policy: When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.


A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.


Changing Booking: A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of $20.00. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.


Cancellation Policy: A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days.


No-show: In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.


Payment: We accept MasterCard and Visa.


Emergencies: We offer free 24-hour roadside assistance.
